A New Model of Health Care
Correctional Health Services (CHS) is an integral part of British Columbia’s health care system and the newest service of BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services, an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority. We provide health services at all 10 Correctional Centres across British Columbia.
Working alongside other health care experts on a supportive and inter-professional team, you will provide quality care for clients and help them live an active life during their time in custody and as they reintegrate into the community.
We are looking for talented RNs, LPNs, and RPNs to join our team at the Okanagan Correctional Centre in Oliver, BC to help us improve access to primary health care as well as mental health and substance use support for clients in correctional centres.
This new model of health care provides the opportunity for you to grow your expertise as a primary care nurse in an environment where you’re supported from day one, and where leaders and colleagues across disciplines will have your back.
Be part of a team where you can live and work in your community, positively influence an incarcerated individual’s journey down a new path, and see the difference you can make as you serve the diverse populations of the BC Corrections system.

PHSA together with BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services (BCMHSUS) took on responsibility for the delivery of health care services in BC Corrections facilities in October 2017. PHSA is mandated to improve the quality and continuity of care for clients across the province during their time in correctional facilities and as they reintegrate into the community. This will help to improve access to primary health care, as well as mental health and substance use supports, key needs that have been identified not just in BC, but internationally.
The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) plans, manages and evaluates selected specialty and province wide health care services across BC, working with the five geographic health authorities to deliver province-wide solutions that improve the health of British Columbians. PHSA embodies values that reflect a commitment to excellence. These include: Respect people • Be compassionate • Dare to innovate • Cultivate partnerships • Serve with purpose
PHSA is committed to employment equity and hires on the basis of merit. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals, including Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities.
