STOPPING THE VIOLENCE COUNSELLOR
Lower Similkameen Community Services Society is seeking an experienced Counsellor to provide individual and/or group counselling for women who have experienced sexual assault, violence/abuse in relationships, or childhood abuse. The Stopping the Violence (STV) Women’s Counsellling Program provides services to clients in the Keremeos, Cawston, Hedley and Olalla areas.
The wage for this position is $30.70/hour plus a comprehensive benefit package
(UFCW Grid 15, unclassified); 17.5 hours per week.
Required education, training and experience
Degree or diploma in Social Work, counselling, or a related discipline, and/or extensive work-related experience under qualified supervision and experience with direct program delivery in the community/social service sector
Experience counselling women who have experienced abuse and trauma
Grief and crisis intervention training is an asset
Ability to use a computer, including word processing and spreadsheet software
Must have the ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
Use of personal vehicle with a valid Class 5 Drivers License and a clean drivers abstract
Group facilitation skills
Clearance through the Criminal Records Review Program is required
