Trades & Technical Careers in the South Okanagan

While our regions roots are agricultural, the trades and manufacturing sectors have developed into one of our largest employment fields. Our businesses develop products and provide services that are in demand all around the world, such as precision equipment, commercial truck trailers, recreational vehicles, modular homes, vitamins, food items, and value-added wood products such as cross laminate and glue laminates. A current commercial & residential development boom in the South Okanagan has led to increased demand for skilled construction people. The presence of over 330 wineries in the Okanagan Valley has generated fabrication and innovation in the winemaking & viticulture supply chain. Locally, post-secondary education has developed to align itself with industry needs, providing training in sustainable construction management, trades, and viticulture in the world-class LEED platinum Centre of Excellence facility at Okanagan College campus in Penticton.  Our employers are always on the lookout for skilled people to join their teams.
